The Midi Pattern Generator (or MPG) is a midi plugin for Tuareg by Bram Bos. The MPG takes advantage of the sample "Edit" feature which is functional on Tuareg 1.5 and newer. The ZIP file also includes a readme2.txt file with instructions on how to use MPG with the free versions of Tuareg.
The MPG contains a 16-step sequencer which can be used to generate a midi pattern. After the pattern is created, the "render & go" button will record the midi instrument as a WAV audio file which can be used by Tuareg. The midi instrument can be a computer sound card, software synth, or external midi device. Check out the readme files for more information.
The MPG can also be run as a stand-alone application by double clicking on the 'mpg1.exe' file. This allows the MPG to be used easily with other software that can load WAV files. You will not be able to save the pattern settings or comments for later use unless you are using MPG as a plugin for Tuareg.
