Softcore Synth v1.2

v1.2 - increased midi note range:  midi #0-86.  directX 9.0 or newer is required to play samples above midi note #75.

v1.1 - fixed a bug which caused problems with the midi device selection on some computers

v1.0 - featuring 16 voices of polyphony!

The Softcore Synth receives midi data and then plays a sample at the appropriate pitch. It makes a perfect companion for software sequencers like the MPGs or PUMP. Using a software sequencer will require a midi loopback device such as Hubi's LoopBack device (pre Windows XP) or MIDIYOKE (Windows XP). When using loopback devices, you can open multiple copies of the Softcore Synth on different midi channels for even more voices. You can also play Softcore with an external midi keyboard.  The ZIP file contains the .EXE file and a few samples to mess with.

known "bug" - Some midi devices transmit a note ON message with zero velocity instead of a note OFF message when a note is to be silenced. Since the Softcore Synth does not currently recognize velocity information, the note will be retriggered instead of turned off. If you encounter 'note doubling', this is most likely the reason. A kind person named Clark pointed out that you may be able to use a freeware program called MIDI-OX to filter out this unwanted midi

requires directX 7.0 or newer (directX 9.0 or newer to play notes 76-86)
